Blood orange segments with a healthy drizzle of RAW honey, makes a super easy 5 minute sweet treat that you can feel good about. Here’s why.
Everyone knows that oranges are packed with vitamin C but did you know that the red colour in Blood Oranges is not just for show? According to Sunkist, “Blood oranges (moro oranges) get their red color from high concentrations of a pigment called anthocyanin, a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes the effects of free radicals. Free radicals are the agents believed to be responsible for cancer, aging and other health ailments.” How amazing is that.
Take 2 Sunkist blood oranges and cut away the peel, all the way to the fruit, with a paring knife. Then cut each segment out and placed it into an ice cream dish (above).
Drizzled the blood orange segments with some RAW honey as it carries immune boosting properties for that added benefit. For the 2 blood oranges I drizzled 2 tablespoons of honey. (above) Be sure to use the RAW or unpasteurized honey, as some of the more known grocery store brands process their honey and add sugar to extend shelf life.
Enjoy this quick sweet good-for-you indulgence.
